1,372 students awarded degrees during BITS Pilani, Hyderabad convocation
HYDERABAD: “Every graduate must step into the career zone armed with four pioneering principles of leadership — fostering natural curiosity, taking the long view, leading with inner conviction, and building a band of talented, diverse co-travellers for achieving their goals,” was the advice given by Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, at the convocation ceremony for the institute’s graduating students of the 2023 batch here on Sunday.
The university conferred degrees on 1,372 students, including 1,053 who received their first degrees, 254 their higher degrees and 65 scholars who received their PhD.
Durba Satpathi won the gold for academic excellence, Aditya Chopra silver and Balabhadra Krishna Chaitanya bronze.
Dr N. Kalaiselvi, director-general CSIR, gave away the awards in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, families of graduating students, faculty members, and staff.
Prof. Rao urged the students to never lose a childlike curiosity, and be driven by an unwavering commitment and an upright character. Dr Kalaiselvi highlighted the critical movement India is experiencing in the field of science and technology. He advised the graduating students to work towards making India a global power.
