OOTY: The second and final phase of the Ganesh idols procession held in various taluks across the Nilgiris on Thursday passed off peacefully amid tight security arrangements in the hills bringing relief to policemen here.
The idol processions were held in nine different places, including Ooty town, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Gudalur and Devala and Hindu outfits organised rallies in these places.
In the communally sensitive Coonoor limits, which saw a huge turnout for the procession, cops enhanced security arrangements by picketing posts at all sensitive points along the procession route.
Though it was a tough time for police, the procession was peaceful.
