Bike rally demanding arrangements for idol immersion at Hussainsagar

Hyderabad city police said that they had not received any application seeking permission for the bike rally

Hyderabad: To press their demand for conducting the immersion of Ganesh idols at Hussainsagar, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti (BGUS) said it would hold a bike rally on Tank Bund and PVNR Mark on Tuesday morning.

The organisers said over 3,000 people had come forward to take part in this rally. The number might increase by Tuesday morning, they added. Hyderabad city police said that they had not received any application seeking permission for the bike rally. Since the Assembly session will be in progress, such mass gatherings are prohibited in the area, police said.

“Holding such rallies is illegal. According to the City Police Act, for holding such events, permission is mandatory. Any violation will be treated as per the law. Further, due to the Assembly session in progress, prohibitory orders are already in effect within a four-km radius around the Assembly," said a city police official.

Meanwhile, Dr N. Goutham Rao, president of the BJP Hyderabad central district, alleged that the TRS government was unnecessarily creating problems in celebrating the Ganesh Chaturthi festival which was being conducted in a peaceful way and imposing unnecessary restrictions for the immersion festivities.
