Telangana HC Suspects Connivance by Civic Authorities

The judge also called upon the authorities to detail what action has been taken against the illegal construction

Hyderabad: Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court voiced disapproval at the manner in which the civic authorities of Boduppal Municipality were turning a blind eye to illegal constructions being made in Chengicherla village.

The judge said that the inaction in stopping two businessmen from making the illegal constructions suggested the connivance of the civic authorities with the private respondents who are proceeding to make illegal constructions. The judge also called upon the authorities to detail what action has been taken against the illegal construction and the timeline thereof.

NIA informs court of extremist whereaboouts

A two-judge bench of Telangana High Court was informed that the accused Dubashi Devender in the extremist shootout is now in the judicial custody of the NIA Special Court, Jagdalpur. Deputy solicitor-general Gadi Praveen Kumar informed the bench of Justice K. Lakshman and Justice K. Sujana which is hearing a habeas corpus writ petition filed by Dubashi Swapna for the production of her husband. Appearing for the NIA, it is contended that the detenue was apprehended on June 18, 2023, arrested and produced on June 19, and is now lodged in judicial custody. The DSG would contend that the cause would not survive as the detenue is not in illegal custody. The bench adjourned the matter for the writ petition to confirm the veracity of the same.

Continue para vets HC to GHMC

Justice P. Madhavi Devi of the Telangana High Court directed municipal authorities to continue with the engagement of 50 semi-skilled veterinary workers and para vets working in the veterinary section in LB Nagar Zone. The judge made the interim order in a writ plea filed by P. Shiva Kumar and 50 others complaining that they were being discontinued on the ground that they had participated in the hartal pressing for their demand for regularisation. It is the specific case of the petitioners that they had not participated in any such ‘hartals’. It is also their contention that it was unfair and unjust to discontinue contract labour who have been working with the corporation since 2008. Accordingly, the judge directed the respondents to file their reply by October 04.

Existing contractor to continue in ESIC: HC

Justice C. Sumalatha of the Telangana High Court extended the interim stay and directed the Dean, ESIC Hospital, and College not to hand over the canteen services to Prism Hospitality Pvt Ltd. The judge made the interim order in a writ plea filed by K. Suresh Babu, Proprietor of M/s. Venkateshwara Enterprises alleging that tenders were called for providing canteen services at ESIC college and hospital for which 6 tenders were received. Thereafter the respondent authorities rejected the 5 tenders and permitted the only one to cure the latches in the bids and qualified the lone contractor. The petitioner contended that the action of authorities is in gross violation of principles of natural justice. The judge will hear the matter on October 18. Pending further orders the existing contractor would continue.

HC fines forest officials

Justice C. Sumalatha of the Telangana High Court imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the officials of the Forest Department for not fixing forest boundaries and conducting a survey in this regard. The judge made the order in a writ plea filed by M. Rama Krishna Reddy complaining of the high-handed action of the forest officials in proceeding with the construction of compound walls at Wargal mandal in Siddipet district. The High Court had earlier required the authorities to conduct a survey and had specified that such a survey shall be completed by July 3. The judge noticed that the said order was not complied with, and the government was lackadaisical in executing the direction. The court took note of the fact that it is over two months and yet there was no compliance.
