Luck and WhatsApp help kid find grandpa, mom still missing

Madhu Shree said she was abandoned in the forest by her parents who came here with the girl on a two-wheeler.

Krishnagiri: A local villager has saved a 3-year-old girl found abandoned in the forest area frquented by a herd of wild elephants.

In the early hours of Friday, 35-year-old M. Balan, a farmer of Melumalai in Krishnagiri district forest area, found a the girl at the place, where a herd of wild elephants usually stay.

“At around 5 am, I was heading towards the local shandy on my two-wheeler when I found the girl walking alone on our village road inside the forest and where a herd of wild elephant stays”Balan told DC.

He added, “I took the Kannada speaking girl to my house. She when called as ‘Pappa (child)’, asked us to call by her name Madhu Shree. The girl also gave her father’s name as Anjappa and mother as Anitha but didn’t know the name of the place where they live.”

Madhu Shree said she was abandoned in the forest by her parents who came here with the girl on a two-wheeler and the couple seems to belong to neighboring Karnataka.

The Melumalai villagers handed over the girl to the Shoolagiri police station. The police registered a case and conducted search to trace the parents who abandoned the girl in the forest region.

Meanwhile, 59-year-old Muniappa of Sanamangalam village, near Hosur in Krishnagiri district came to the police station and claimed the girl, stating he is the grandfather of Madhu Shree.

He, when questioned, told police that the Madhu Shree was born to his 25-year-old missing daughter Anitha who lived at her marital home in Naguthepalli village, near Mallur of Chikballapur district in the neighbouring Karnataka.

Anitha went missing five months ago from her husband’s place with her daughter and could not be traced till date.He also thanked all those who have shared the information in WhatsAapp about his granddaughter Madhu Shree, which helped them to reunite after five months, since the girl went missing with her mother.
