Congress resorts to ‘adoption tactics’ at Huzurnagar
Hyderabad: Taking the Huzurnagar byelection as a prestige issue, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has adopted a new strategy. Around 100 Congress leaders have adopted one village each in the constituency. Several senior Congress leaders have adopted one mandal each for development. After the Dasara festival, all these leaders will camp at their respective villages and mandals till the days for campaigning end, said TPCC treasurer ,Gudur Narayana Reddy.
The move was recommended by AICC General Secretary and Telangana state Congress affairs in-charge, R.C. Khuntia, at a meeting with some important senior leaders two days ago after the TRS assigned the responsibility of campaigning for the byelection in the constituency to around 70 leaders, including MLAs, MLCs, MPs and ministers.
Speaking to this news paper, Mr Reddy said that all these leaders would meet the people in their respective villages and explain the failures of the TRS government in several fields and convince them to vote in favour of the Congress. He said that any leader working against the party would face action from the party high command. The Congress leaders would also meet the people community-wise and request them to vote for the Congress candidate, he said.
After Dasara, the campaign is likely to be intensified in Huzur-nagar by all parties.
