Thanjavur: The presence of mind shown by an autorickshaw driver prevented people from coming in to contact with live wire on the medical college road here on Wednesday.
Pandurangan (50), an auto driver, was going to the medical college by 3 am on Wednesday, when he noticed a fallen electric pole on the road near
the overbridge joining the medical college road.
He also found that the wire was live.
Parking his auto across the road, Pandurangan waited there and informed passing vehicles and people not to cross the place.
Later, the police control was alerted. He waited there till the police and TANGEDCO staff came and took up repair work. Public and officials lauded the auto driver.
