Hyderabad: The popular 1,000 Pillar Temple in Warangal is going to get a facelift. A slew of new facilities are set to come up at the temple at a cost of Rs 1.06 crore.
The Warangal Smart City Corporation board of directors has decided to take up several projects in Warangal, including development of Kakatiya musical garden and several other attractions. The state government expects Rs 300 crore from the Central government for the development under smart the city project. The board has asked officials to prepare proposals for new projects and send them to the central government for approval.
As for the facelift of the 1,000 Pillar Temple, the board has given an in-principle approval to the project and asked officials to go ahead with the works. Land acquisition for the purpose is already underway.
The other projects include improvement of facilities at Padmakshi temple at a cost of Rs 3.2 crore and one for the development of the banks of the Bhadrakali lake at a cost of '68 crore.
Project management consultants estimated that the Bhadrakali lake rejuvenation project may take up to 18 months to complete. Consultants suggested five-stage action plan for this, the first of which is to arrest the sewage entering into the lake from the sewer lines immediately.
Meanwhile, the route plan for the heritage-cum-adventure train on the Hanm-akonda Hills is also being revisited. Project management consultants have worked out two routes — one from the Bhadrakali temple side and another from the Jain statue side. The Warangal corporation board has suggested the use of natural materials in all projects as far as possible.
