Kidney racket: Vedanta doctors deny involvement
GUNTUR: Vedanta Hospital in Guntur denied its involvement in the kidney racket. Hospital managing director Dr Ch. Ramakrishna, addressing a press meet in Guntur on Saturday, said that patient Ch. Nageswara Rao of Guntur came to their hospital on August 4 for kidney treatment and he was suggested to undergo kidney transplantation.
He said that the patient and his relatives had submitted a request letter in the name of Ravuri Ravi of Narasaraopeta saying one of their relatives was ready to donate kidney and hence their hospital collected blood samples of Ravi and sent the same for testing to Hyderabad Apollo Hospital.
Later, the patient’s relatives brought one D. Gopi saying he is the relative ready to donate the kidney. Meanwhile, the patient developed cardiac problem and he was shifted to Aayush Hospitals at Vijayawada and that hospital performed kidney transplantation without any permission. Dr Ramakrishna said that patient and his relatives performed illegalities by morphing Aadhaar ID.
