JSNSU students were targeted to spread fear: Asaduddin Owaisi
Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, expressing solidarity with students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), said that Sunday’s cruel attack was meant to punish all those who dared to oppose CAA. This is yet another attempt to change the character of the country, he said.
“The president of the JNU Students Union (JNUSU) was specifically targeted. Students were injured in order to spear fear-psychosis. An absurd development is that the police allowed the attackers inside and that was followed by provocative slogans like ‘Desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maro saalon ko”(shoot the traitors)’.”
“This is a Central university situated in the national capital. The Centre should decide what sort of message it intends to send to the whole world. Such brutality against tomorrow’s leaders is highly condemnable,” Mr Owaisi said.
He was astonished that for one-and-a-half hours the police did not know what was happening. “Delhi is the country’s capital. They mobilised people on Whatsapp. What was the cyber cell doing? If some thugs can do this, what about those people who want to harm the integrity of the country,” he asked.
He said “I hope that the government will rise above petty politics and arrest all perpetrators who entered the campus with masks. They might have covered their faces, but their ideology stands exposed. Nothing will come out of the so-called investigation. Why could not the authorities, and police personnel, stop the intruders and then remained quite when the hooligans unleashed terror for around 90 minutes? What is the message the government is sending to the students’ community?”
