BRS deprived schools of basic infra: Jeevan Reddy

KG to PG free education was confined to only statements and the BRS government never took any initiative in implementation of the scheme

Karimnagar: Instead of strengthening the government schools, in the name of regularisation, the previous BRS government tried to shut down the schools, alleged senior Congress leader and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy while releasing the calendar of Progressive Recognised Teachers Union (PRTU) at Indira Bhavan in Jagtial town on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the previous government showed negligence in providing basic facilities in all the government schools because of that the strength in government schools was gradually decreased. KG to PG free education was confined to only statements and the BRS government never took any initiative in implementation of the scheme, he pointed out.

Stating that the teachers played a key role in the separate Telangana movement by explaining to the people about the importance of water, funds and jobs (Neellu, Needulu and Neeyamakalu), he said the Congress government will take a decision on the implementation of old pension scheme (OPS) in the state and will provide security to their life after retirement.

He said that several government teachers were facing a lot of hardship with the implementation of GO 317, the zonal system in the allocation of jobs. The Congress government will review the zonal system and will take necessary steps for forming zones on the basis of united districts.

The government teachers were also facing a lot of problems with the removal of scavengers from schools, he said and assured the government will take all steps for providing all kinds of basic facilities in the government schools.

The unemployed youth are in a worried state with delay in accepting the resignations of members of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) by the Governor. For taking up the job recruitment process in the state, the Governor must take initiative and should accept the resignations of TSPSC members as early as possible, he urged.

The representatives of teachers union Amarnath Reddy, Anand Rao, Chandra Prakash, Mahesh, Ravi Kumar, Srinivas Reddy, Ramesh, Malla Reddy, Rajashekar, Surekha, Jamuna, Jayaprada, Vasantha and Radha Lakshmi were present along with others.
