Madhya Pradesh: University forgets to present D.Litt to Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

Bhopal: Seven years after announcing to honour Union minister of state for I&B Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore with D.Litt for his achievements in 2004 Athens Olympics, a university in MP is currently making arrangements to present the degree.

Vikram University in Ujjain declared to award D.Litt to Mr Rathore in 2010 as recognition of his rare achievement of winning silver in shooting in 2004 Athens Olympics, but conveniently forgot to bestow him with the honour during the period.

“He (Mr Rathore) could not attend the convocation of that year to receive the honorary D.Litt degree awarded to him by the university. The matter was then forgotten by the university authorities.

“I spotted the file in this regard in the university locker a week ago,” university vice-chancellor S.S.Pandey told this newspaper on Monday.

According to him, the university is making arrangements to find a suitable occasion to honour the Union minister by keeping in touch with his office. “It is an honour for the university to present D.Litt to a Union minister,” he added.
