People have right to ask if Sasi deserves to be CM: P Chidambaram
Chennai :Virtually questioning the election of VK Sasikala as leader of AIADMK Legislature Party, Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said people of Tamil Nadu have the right to ask if she deserves to be the Chief Minister.
In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle, the Congress MP reacted to the election of Mrs Sasikala as their leader by the party MLAs on Sunday evening. "Looking back with pride, TN CM chair was occupied by (K) Kamaraj and (CN) Anna. AIADMK and PEOPLE OF TAMILNADU are now moving in opposite directions. It is the right of AIADMK MLAs to elect their leader. It is the right of the people to ask if the leader deserves to be CM," he said. Wile Mr Kamaraj was Chief Minister from 1954 to 1963, Mr Annadurai was at the helm from 1967-1969.
The comments of Mr Chidambaram, one of the senior most Congress
leaders from Tamil Nadu, are in clear contradiction with those expressed by TNCC chief Su Thirunavukarasar who had on Sunday said it was an "internal affair" of the AIADMK.
