Kozhikode police launch anti-drugs drive
KOZHIKODE: The city police on Wednesday launched a drive against drug abuse, A.D.A.P.T or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Task. It listed out 164 peddlers to be on close watch.
It announced action to reduce the supply and sales of drugs by curbing peddlers and creating awareness against substance abuse. District anti-narcotics special action force (DANSAF) will play a significant role in detection, seizure and arrests.
"We will take preventive measures which involve raids on their hideouts and regular checking at vulnerable locations and probable routes such as railway stations, bus stands and parcel services," said city police commissioner Sanjay Kumar Gurudin.
"There'll be surprise checking at suspected long route buses and surveillance on previous offenders in NDPS cases."
In addition to this are "Let's Discuss" to sensitise parents to remove "not-my-kid" syndrome in which every parent thinks their child could not be a drug addict.
"Hence all parents would be prepared to understand the warning sign and symptoms to identify if their kid is a victim," he added.
