Now, cash delivered available at your doorstep
Chennai: Delivery of cash at the doorstep, mini ATMs, post payment banks and withdrawal of cash over mobile. These are some of the features that the postal department is planning to introduce for its lakhs of customers across the country.
And the department is also taking steps to augment the core banking infrastructure in post offices and facilities that would give the customers the satisfaction of carrying out a safe and secure transaction.
Officials told Deccan Chronicle that the department would soon launch services like withdrawal of cash over the phone. “In such case, the details will be verified and the area postman will deliver cash to the doorstep of the account holder. We are currently employing more staff to bring this service into action,” an official from the postal department said.
Postal department is attracting the customers with the issue of cheque books for every Savings Bank (SB) account opened with them. Unlike banks, there will be no restrictions on the number of transactions through cheque book or card. The Rural Integrated Communication Technology (RICT) is also to be linked with all the accounts at the post office, which will act as a common platform for banking.
Officials say that this will help the independent functioning of every sub-office. Devices similar to mini ATMs are soon to assist the people. The technological advancements and better banking infrastructure shall bring good days to the postal department.
