Hyderabad: Quite a few bureaucrats from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, who are working in different Central government organisations on deputation, are ready to pack their bags and return to their parent cadre (AP) in case the YSR Congress comes to power in the Assembly elections, the votes for which will be counted on May 23.
Among those who are likely to return to their parent cadre are senior IPS officer P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, who is presently on deputation with the Border Security Force (BSF), A. Dharma Reddy, Indian Defence Estate Service (IDES) and IPS officer Manish Kumar Sinha.
Though there are a few more officers from AP who are on deputation, they are still said to be weighing the pros and cons of returning to AP.
A 1992 batch IPS officer Mr Anjaneyulu, who earlier served as DIG, Intelligence, and Vijaya-wada Police Commiss-ioner in united AP during the tenure of YS Rajasekhara Reddy as Chief Minister, can opt to come back any time now. He had left his parent cadre to join the BSF as IG in April 2015 and was posted in Siliguri. In 2017, officers in his batch were promoted to the rank of Additional DGPs and as per rules, any officer can opt to return to the parent cadre to avail the benefits of promotion once he is promoted in the state.
If Mr Anjaneyulu shows his willingness to return to the AP cadre, he is likely to be relieved immediately.
The buzz in the corridors of power is that Mr Anjaneyulu could well become the “eyes and ears” of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as there is every possibility of his being appointed as the Intelligence chief — considered a very powerful post.
With regard to Dharma Reddy, the 1991 batch IDES officer, who hails from Rayalaseema region, he too is said to be ready to come back if YSR Congress party forms the government. Mr Dharma Reddy is presently posted as Joint Secretary in the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA), New Delhi. He is in the Border management division in MHA.
Another IPS officer, Manish Kumar Sinha, presently posted in the Bureau of Police R&D, may return to the parent cadre. An IPS officer of the 2000 batch, he had a stint in the CBI as well before being transferred to BPR&D. Officers of his batch have already been promoted to the rank of IGPs and just like Mr Anjaneyulu, Mr Sinha can also show his willingness to return to the AP cadre.
There are quite a few other officers from the AP cadre who are on deputation. They include VSK Kaumudi (Special DG, CRPF), Anjana Sinha (Director, National Industrial Security Academy), N Madhusudhan Reddy (National Police Academy), and Atul Singh (Central Vigilance Commission).
