Coimbatore: Kovai girl ranks third in CBSE class X exam

Chennai records 99 per cent pass.

Coimbatore: A student of Vidhya Niketan Public School here, B Kaviya Varshini, has emerged topper in her school in the district and state, and has also secured the third rank at the national-level in the Class-X Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations. The results were declared on Monday.

Kaviya scored 100/100 marks in Mathematics, Science and Social Science, and 99 and 98 marks in Tamil and English subjects respectively.

Speaking to DC, Kaviya said, “there was no pressure on me to score marks that I emerged a rank holder. My parents and teachers instead motivated me to understand the concepts rather than learning them by heart.”

It was a combination of hard and smart work that helped her achieve the results. She admits studying her daily portions that were taught in school and says that she dedicated four hours for academics every day, post school hours.

“The revision examinations that were conducted by the school helped me prepare myself for the board examinations. My teachers and parents were very supportive throughout the academic year,” she said.

Her advice for students preparing for board examinations is to disconnect from all forms of social media, which she did for one year.

Kaviya is eying a career in medicine, and also to become an IAS officer.

“I have enrolled for a crash course in Neet, about a month ago,” she added.
