LDF stir on Article 370 today
Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF will launch a state wide campaign on Wednesday against what it calls the Modi government’s severe blow to constitutional order by unilaterally scrapping Article 370 and other provisions of the Constitution and dividing the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
The LDF has decided to organise protest marches, demonstrations and hold conventions in district and local centres in all 14 districts. It called upon people to strongly protest against “these illegal and unconstitutional methods employed by the BJP government at the Centre.”
The Left leaders said these issues were not confined not Jammu & Kashmir alone. They constitute an attack on democracy, federalism and the constitutional order.
“Today it is Kashmir tomorrow it could be any other state,” said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan adding that it was a direct onslaught on the federal structure of the country.-
The LDF said the people of India were being forewarned that such authoritarian attacks would take place on their democratic and constitutional rights.
“It is time to stand with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and mobilise the people to resist this onslaught on the Constitution and federalism,” they said.
The protest across Kerala is being organised on the call given by the national leadership of Left parties to all democratic-minded people to join the all-India protest day on Wednesday.
