Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and leaders of other Opposition parties criticised the chief minister for not visiting flood-affected areas. “Jagan Reddy bound himself to Tadepalli palace, ignored the plight of the flood victims and failed to organise relief and rescue operations,” they alleged.

Responding to this, the CM said, “I will visit the flood-hit areas next Monday and Tuesday and review the relief measures. If I had gone to the flood-affected areas earlier, it would have caused problems in the effective implementation of the flood-related relief and rescue operations. I have already instructed the officials to do their best and be kind in helping the victims.”

“I had directed them that the affected families and individuals should be given ₹ 2000 and ₹1000 respectively when they are sent back to their homes from relief camps. If flood water entered houses, such victims would be compensated with ₹2000 while all other victims would be given rations of 25 kg rice, one kg vegetables, 1kg red gram and 1litre edible oil,” he added.
