Reconisder non locals status of student, says High Court
HYDERABAD: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court directed Kaloji Narayana Rao University to examine the candidature of a medical student for admission into the MBBS/BDS Course.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aaradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar was dealing with a writ plea filed by P. Nischal Karthik, an MBBS aspirant, challenging the action of Kaloji Narayana Rao University in considering him as the non-local candidate of Telangana state.
Counsel for the petitioner argued that he studied from Class 1 to Class 10 in Telangana state and studied Class 11 and Class 12 in Salem, Tamil Nadu as he was unable to fulfil the criteria under relevant GO which mandates study of four consecutive years in Telangana, his request was rejected.
She further argued that the revenue authorities issued a local candidate and resident certificate to him, duly noting that he is a permanent resident of Telangana, and he submitted the same to the institute.
Standing counsel for Kaloji Narayana Rao University contended that the petitioner came to the court at a delayed stage and is not entitled to the said relief. After hearing both sides the panel directed the university to examine the claim of the petition as a local candidate for admission into the MBBS/ /BDS course for this academic year in the next round of counselling.
