Hyderabad: The Congress on Friday alleged that the BRS government had neglected the welfare of 15 lakh Gulf workers and their families, with TPCC NRI cell chairman B.M. Vinod Kumar saying that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had failed to keep his promise of setting up a corporation for the welfare of Gulf workers with Rs 500 crore corpus.

Speaking to media personnel at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Vinod said, the Gulf migrants sent home nearly Rs 1,000 crore per year from which the state government earns at least Rs 60 crore per year by way of taxes directly or indirectly, “Still there has been not a single initiative from the BRS government for their welfare," he said.

Vinod said the government must to learn from Kerala state government how to take taking care of Gulf workers and their family members.
"KCR and KTR boasted of bringing a special NRI policy for the welfare of Gulf workers and their families. But nothing happened till today," Vinod said.
