Telangana CM plans administrative revamp to bring back mojo
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has planned a major administrative revamp ahead of completing two-and-a-half years in office on December 2.
He is upset with the poor performance of some senior officials in key departments, especially finance, medical and health, agriculture, housing and education, due to which his government is facing severe criticism from various quarters.
The formation of 21 new districts from Dasara has triggered a need to streamline the administration as several IAS officers had to be shifted to districts.
Sources said the intelligence department has been asked to submit reports on the functioning of ministers and key officials. The report will play a key role in revamp of administration. The revamp is expected in the next one or two weeks.
While many surveys rank Telangana and the CM as leading on various parameters, the government is facing public anger on the issue of fee reimbursement, Arogyasri arrears, rampant sale of spurious seeds and not starting the 2BHK housing scheme.
The CM views that due to lack of coordination between finance department and respective dep-artments, the funds could not be released on time resulting in ons-laught from Opposition parties and others.
