Call Off Stir, Minister Audimulapu Suresh Tells Municipal Workers
Vishakhpatnam: Municipal administration minister Audimulapu Suresh has appealed to civic workers to call off their strike and join duty as Sankranti festival is fast approaching.
Addressing a meeting of the AP Municipal Employees Association, along with education minister Botsa Satyanarayana, in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, minister Suresh underlined that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has always favoured employees and is sympathetic to their problems.
Suresh maintained that the AP government is paying the highest salaries to municipal employees in south India. He said demands of the striking workers can be resolved amicably.
“Most of the demands are linked to financial matters. Hence, a thorough look is essential,” the minister maintained, while reiterating that the municipal workers call of their stir.
He appealed to employees to behave responsibly and not trouble people during the festival time.
Education minister Satyanarayana said employees have every right to strike for fulfilling their demands. “But there are also ways to solve problems without inconveniencing the people,” he pointed out.
Satyanarayana disclosed that a sub-committee of ministers will soon meet employees' leaders to find a solution to their demands.a
