Water for IT corridor by end of the year
Hyderabad: The water problem in the IT corridor, which is facing a crunch, could ease by the year end with the government allotting Rs 25 crore to enhance supply to Madhapur, the IT corridor and the proposed game city zone on priority.
The Water Board had called for tenders on November 10 last, and the lowest bidder, Koya & Company Constructions Limited, was selected on December 12.
Based on the recommendations made by the 136th tender committee of the Water Board, the government sanctioned Rs 25 crore last month.
As per the detailed project report, water from the Krishna Phase-III will be supplied from Mylardevu-pally to Madhapur. Water Works Madhapur zone section officer N. Prabhakar told this newspaper that the pipeline would be laid from Mylardevpally to Raidurgam and Madhapur. “Tenders have already been finalised and as the government has sanctioned the amount, work will be taken up soon,” he said.
Newly elected GHMC corporator from Kondapur Shaik Hameed Patel said that the water would reach the IT corridor by the end of this year. “With the initiatives taken up by the government, water shortage in half the IT corridor will be addressed with the arrival of Godavari Phase-I water,” he said.
As per the DPR, 1,000-mm diameter pipelines will be laid from Raidurgam junction to the Madhapur reservoir.
Mr Prabhakar said, “After the project is completed, as many as 30 lakh citizens in the IT corridor will get Krishna water that will solve the problem.”
