Mahila Congress protests poor allocation of funds
Guntur: Members of the AP Mahila Congress led a rally and staged a dharna in the city protesting against the poor allocation of funds to AP in the Union budget and demanding fulfilling of promises made during bifurcation of the state.
The leaders and activists of AP Mahila Congress, led by its state president Sunkara Padma, alleged that the BJP cheated the AP public by ignoring the promises made during division and further alleged the TD completely failed in getting funds sanctioned to AP despite having a political alliance with the BJP.
Ms Padma alleged that both TD and BJP were playing drama regarding fulfilling of promises. She said that promises have been included in the AP Reorganisation Act and they they have become rights of AP public.
She appealed to the public to make Thursday’s bandh a grand success by voluntarily participating in it. The Guntur District Cold Storage Owners Welfare Association supported the bandh and association president T.S. Prakasa Rao said the cold storages will stop all transactions on Thursday.
RESTRICTIONS: Meanwhile, the Guntur urban and rural SPs said restrictions under Section 144 CrPC and Section 30 of Police Act have been promulgated and hence no one would be allowed to conduct rallies and meetings without permission.
The Urban and Rural SPs of the district warned of stringent action against those violating the rules on Thursday.
