Over 5,000 participate in Run for Jesus'
Hyderabad: ‘Run for Jesus’ has become an integral part of the Christian community’s celebrations in the city. Marking the conclusion of Lent season, the run evoked tremendous response on Saturday. It was flagged off by Cardinal Anthony Poola at St Mary's Basilica in Secunderabad with 5,000 runners at the starting point.
Many participants who participated from different parts of the city completed the marathon crossing Tank Bund and reached St. George's Grammar School at around 9 am,
Home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Roydin Roach, Christian community leader, senior pastors Rev. Sinha, Rev. Mohan Babu, Rev. Jonathan and Rev. Raja Habel, who graced the occasion greeted the participants.
The run’s founder-organiser Paul Devapriyam Pulla said “It is amazing to see the response of the community year after year. This year we have touched 500 locations with a participation of over five lakh across south India. The community has been observing the holy Saturday as the day for outdoor events to proclaim the message of crucifixion and resurrection. The event bolsters togetherness and spurs enthusiasm of the participants.”
