Government purchases ₹240 crore worth paddy in Eluru district
KAKINADA: Principal secretary (Water Resources) Sashibhushan Kumar, the special officer of Eluru district, said the state government has purchased 1.28 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth ₹240 crores in Eluru district till Sunday. Of this, ₹182 crores have already been paid to farmers.
The official assured farmers that whatever problems they may face, they can be sorted out by special officers of the district at the Rythu Bharosa Kendras.
Sashibhushan Kumar inspected the paddy purchase process at Nachukunta in Unguturu mandal. He also checked out rice mills in the area on Sunday.
Eluru joint collector B. Lavanya Veni said 42 lahks out of 50 lakh gunny bags required have already been made available to farmers in the district. On Saturday, 60,000 bags had been handed over to farmers.
Lavanya Veni said 450–500 lorries are transporting paddy from the fields of farmers to RBKs and rice mills.
In East Godavari district, CRDA commissioner and special officer Vivek Yadav inspected the RBK at Patha Thungapadu village in Rajanagaram mandal on Sunday. EG collector K. Madhavi Latha and joint collector Tej Bharat accompanied him.
