Andhra Pradesh government blames YSRC for leakage, orders probe
GUNTUR: Terming the seepage of water into Opposition chambers in AP Legislative Assembly a “mischief”, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Wednesday ordered a CID to probe the “conspiracy”. He inspected the Assembly building and roof slab on Wednesday at Velagapudi and saw how the AC line was cut due to which the water entered the chambers instead of going to rain water runoff pipe. CID officials, led by SP D. Koteswara Rao, have plunged into action.
Forensic lab experts were also called in and CCTV footage is being analysed. The Speaker said he is only concerned about the Assembly building, not about rain water entering into other buildings of Secretariat complex. It would be a serious security lapse if someone has cut the pipeline, as claimed by the Speaker.
Mr Sivaprasada Rao said that he is not speaking politics but concern about the safety of Assembly. He said rainwater leaked into the Opposition chamber and his room only. He said that media would be allowed only during the time of Assembly sessions. Mr Sivaprasada Rao said that rainwater seeped into Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s chamber through AC pipeline through a gap where a pipe was found cut. He said the pipe cannot cut on its own and expressed suspicion about “conspiracy” to defame the Assembly.
YSRC MLAs stopped from entering Jagan’s office:
YSR Congress legislators staged a protest in front of AP Assembly at Velagapudi on Wednesday. after they were denied permission to enter the chambers of Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, which got damaged by rainwater. Angry with the decision, YSRC MLAs Mohammad Mustafa, A. Ramakrishna Reddy, G. Srinivas Reddy, K. Raghupathi and others staged the protest.
They demanded the government to permit the media persons to show the damaged caused by the rainwater in the Assembly building. The opposition MLAs alleged that the Telugu Desam government had spent Rs v10,000 per square feet for the construction of the buildings against the usual rate of Rs 3,500 per square feet, but still the quality of construction remained poor. Finding fault with the location of building, Nuzvid YSRC MLA M. Venkata Pratap Appa Rao suggested the government to consider Nuzvid for the new capital.
