I was framed, says Deepak Reddy
Hyderabad: Arrested Telugu Desam MLC G. Deepak Reddy, who was nabbed by CCS police in connection with a land grabbing case, claimed that he was falsely implicated and that he was in no way related to the other two suspects arrested in the case. “I have not signed on those land documents. Somebody must have forged my signature. A scientific forensic examination can prove that it is not my signature,” Reddy said.
Sources close to Reddy claimed that by arresting the MLC, TRS government was trying to divert attention from the Miyapur scam, where many bigwigs connected to the TS government, were involved. Deepak Reddy, advocate Sailesh Saxena and their aide realtor Srinivas appeared in the criminal court at Nampally on Wednesday. Even though the MLC’s advocate filed a bail plea, the court sent them to judicial remand for 14 days.
CCS officials will seek custody of the suspects for further investigation. “We will have to question them again in order to check more details of the case. A custody petition will be filed in court by probe officials”, said a senior cop from CCS. Meanwhile, Mustafa Society members, whose lands were allegedly grabbed by Reddy, celebrated his arrest by bursting firecrackers. The investigation officials from CCS said the MLC along with the advocate created the forged documents to encroach 178 acres of government land in Hakimpet, within the Shaikpet block.
This land had been commissioned to poor families living in the area. The TDP leader also allegedly grabbed 78 acres worth Rs 163 crore at Asif Nagar by creating fake papers in the name of Iqbal Islam Khan. On verification, it was found that this was a fictitious name. By creating fake documents, the accused entered into litigation against the government and private owners of lands. The police had filed a case based on a complaint by Mustafa Society regarding an Asifnagar property.
