Bathini Family Gears Up for Fish Prasadam

Hyderabad: A day before ahead of the distribution of fish prasadam, after three-year break for Covid-19, hundreds of people with bronchial ailments had queued up at the venue, Exhibition Ground, here on Thursday. They included a few foreigners and NRIs

The Bathini Goud family, which has been handing out the free prasadam for 190 years, has set up 200 counter for Friday’s event. The last administration of the prasadam took place in 2019, with 1,09,703 individuals receiving it.

The government said up to 3 lakh people would take the prasadam, and has organised medical camps, security, signage and has set up drinking water and toilet facilities. Social organisations offering free food have been invited.

Zinda Hussain, 65, from Sarangpur, Uttar Pradesh, had come with 11 others suffering from bronchial ailments. “We arrived on Wednesday on hearing about this Hyderabadi medicine that has healed many in our town,” he said.

Visitors expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. Shivaraj Mohit, 40, from Nandade in Maharashtra, said, “The premises had everything. The food is good and they are providing it to everyone. We will sleeping here tonight.”

Bheem Rao Ghatkar from Marathwada said, “I wanted to come for past two years but it was closed. This year, I hope to get cured.”

The prasadam distribution begins at 8 am on Friday after a speech by minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. V. Srinivas, general manager, fisheries department, said about 3 lakh murrel fish were being made available at a price of ₹40 each. Cash and digital payments are accepted.
