Many, Including Jagan, Pay Tributes at YSR Ghat
Anantapur: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to his father, former chief minister late Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at YSR Ghat on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of YSR’s birth anniversary.
The CM, accompanied by his mother Vijayalakshmi, wife Bharathi Reddy and several party leaders, including Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, A. Suresh and Y.S. Avinash Reddy, paid floral tributes and offered prayers at the YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya of Pulivendula segment in Kadapa district.
Besides placing a wreath on YSR Samadhi, garlanding the statue of Rajasekhar Reddy and reciting prayers, the Chief Minister sat in silence at the ghat for a while.
Taking to Twitter, Jagan Mohan Reddy described Dr YSR Jayanti as a festival for people. “You always strived for improving the living standards of people. You wished that children in every household pursue higher education and all people live in happiness and prosperity. This earned you a permanent place in people’s hearts,” he said.
Earlier in the morning, Sharmila, along with her son and daughter and also mother Vijayalakshmi, offered floral tributes and prayers at the YSR Samadhi.
Sharmila expressed gratitude over tweets by several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, praising Rajasekhar Reddy.
Rahul Gandhi, in his tweet, said: "My tributes to senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddyji, on his birth anniversary. He was a visionary leader who devoted his life to the betterment of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He shall always be remembered".
Others who paid tributes to YSR included speaker Tammineni Sitaram, revenue ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and Seedari Appalaraju, former deputy chief minister Dharmana Krishnadas, adviser to AP government (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, MP Nandigam Suresh, party SC Cell state president Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, government advisers Challa Madhusudhan Reddy and S.M. Ziauddin, APCO chairman Ganji Chiranjeevi, Lidcap chairman Kakumanu Rajasekhar and Navaratna Programme vice chairman Narayana Murthy, among others.
