Tamil Nadu: Anti ragging short film to be screened at cinema theatres

He also assured that all efforts will be made to maintain ragging free environment.

Chennai: To create awareness about the evils of ragging, the TN government has decided to screen the anti ragging short film at cinema theatres.

It was announced at the annual meeting of the state level monitoring cell to eradicate the menace of ragging presided by Governor CH.Vidyasagar Rao
on Thursday at Raj Bhavan.

Higher Education minister K.P. Anbalagan stated that ragging has been almost eradicated in TN and there is a conducive environment where freshers are welcomed by seniors in the educational institutions with bouquets. He also assured that all efforts will be made to maintain ragging free environment.

Responding to the suggestion from the Governor Vidyasagar Rao, chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan said that the district level meetings may be held between July 15 and August 15 every year.

A short documentary film, which is proposed to be screened in the Cinema theatres for public viewing to create awareness about evils of ragging was screened at the meeting. Mr Vidyasagar Rao appreciated the effort and suggested that the documentary may be screened on Television too, so as to sensitize the family members of the students. Higher education secretary Sunil Paliwal assured that the department will take all the measures to eradicate the ragging.
