Hyderabad: Composite Mahbubnagar wants PRLIS, Jurala linked
Hyderabad: Elected representatives from erstwhile composite Mahbubnagar district met in the city on Saturday and resolved to propose a re-design of reservoirs under the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and link it with the Jurala project.
Mr. S Niranjan Reddy, the agriculture minister, held a meeting with MLAs and ministers of the district and senior officials of the irrigation department in city to review the ongoing works of the PRLIS.
Mr Niranjan Reddy said the Kalwakurthy Lift Canal was designed with the capacity of 1.8 lakh cusecs, due to which it would be difficult to supply the water to the 3 lakh acres under the canal. He told the officials to keep in view this difficulty and link the Edula reservoir with Buddharam and Ghanapuram.
Mr. V Srinivas Goud, excise minister, asked officials to prepare the designs to link the PLIS with the Jurala Priyadarshini Project to divert the water to Jurala through the Sangambanda reservoir.
Reminding them that the Chief Minister Mr. K Chandrasekhar Rao has set the target of completing the first phase of PRLIS before the next monsoon season in his recent visit to the project, Mr Goud asked the officers to ensure that construction works are conducted in three shifts.
Both ministers said that they will bring to the notice of the Chief Minister the decisions taken at the meeting and request him to issue necessary orders to provide water to irrigate each acre in the district.
