Andhra Pradesh to follow Apex Court order on G-II
Vijayawada: The 1999 batch Group II-selected candidates issue has finally prompted the GAD and the special chief secretary (Prohibition and Excise) to give directions to the P&E Commissionerate to follow the Supreme Court’s guidelines.
DC has procured an interoffice memo, which clearly states that the P&E Commissionerate has to approach the court in case he wishes to challenge the same.
In fact, a series of stories had appeared in DC, over the obstacles of the selected candidates and this has prompted GAD to issue such directives.
In a letter addressed to the Commissioner (P&E) on October 4, the special chief secretary, Dr D. Samba Siva Rao had suggested to take the necessary action.
“Public services, Prohibition and Excise department, APPSC Revised unit list of provisionally selected candidates to the posts of Excise SI, communication of unit list by the APPSC vide Group II services (General) notification No. 10/1999 and clarification sought for instruction issues.”
In fact, the special chief secretary, Dr D. Samba Siva Rao had issued this memo, with reference to the communication sent by the Commissioner (Prohibition & Excise) with Cr.No. 3073/2017, dated August 21, 2017.
Following the series of stories which were published in DC, the special chief secretary, responded to the Commissioner (P&E), after one-and-a-half month.
The Commissioner (P&E) was informed that GAD were suggested so that a committee could be formed, to overcome any hurdles and suggest measures for further action, according to the special chief secretary.
“If there is any difficulty in implementing the judgment of the Apex Court, it is advised that an affidavit be filed before the Supreme Court, seeking the extension of time to comply with the orders,” the special chief secretary has stated.
“It’s nothing but a suggestion. The Commissioner (P&E) in the case of non-implementation of a Supreme Court judgment, can file an affidavit to challenge the order, as this is the only option left,” said a selected candidate, who has been fighting for justice.
The Commissioner (P&E) is advised to take the necessary action, in this regard. The memo issued by the special chief secretary has stated this clearly.
When we spoke to the Commissioner (P&E), Mr Lakshmi Narasimha last week, he told our correspondent that he would follow the Supreme Court guidelines. “The fact is that the physical fitness of the candidates are a cause of concern for us,” said Mr Lakshmi Narayana worriedly.
