Mysore: Mysuru too now has a glass house built at a cost of Rs 7.4 crores at Nishad Bagh (Kuppanna park), similar to Lalbagh in Bengaluru, which will be thrown open to the public during the Dasara flower show which will be held from October 10 to 21.
The flower show will have a floral model of the lotus temple in Delhi which will be 18 feet tall and 40 feet wide, made of 2.50 lakh roses and chrysanthemum. Also there will be floral models of the cannon barrel, a model of elephants coming out of the the entry gate of Mysuru Palace, Ashoka pillar, Tree house, dolphins, Doremon with mushroom models, penguin, dancing dolls and 20 pottery dolls decorated with flowers to attract kids.
With just two days left for the show to begin 40,000 varieties of flowers in over 65,000 flower pots including 40,000 pots of the horticulture department and 25,000 flower pots of government and private institutions are already on display at Nishad Bagh. One can even witness gardening concepts including pottery garden, European style vertical garden and others. Floral concepts including Ikebaana, cut flower, dry flowers and others will also be on display. Vegetables cultivated in pots will also be on view to encourage people take up their cultivation. Twelve varieties of exotic flowers from Pune and Jallipet in Kerala, will be exhibited at the glass house.
There will be a musical fountain show from 7pm to 7.30pm and 8pm to 8.30pm every day, a floral Rangoli contest on October 13, drawing contest on October 14, Indian floral art contest on October 16 as part of the lower show. There will also be a contest for gardens.
Meanwhile, several associations of Ahinda communities along with progressive thinkers, held Mahisha Dasara - ‘Moolanivasigala Mahisha Samskrithika habba’ in front of the Mahishasura statue at Chamundi hills here on Sunday.
