Andhra Agri Scientist on Deputation in Israel Confirms Safe Amid Gaza Attacks
Anantapur: Dr. Manujanth, a scientist from Rolla mandal in Madakasira area of Satya Sai district on deputation in Israel, has informed that he is safe in the wake of a series of attacks on Gaza by militants.
The AP native is working with the Agricultural Research Institute in Bengaluru. He had been sent on deputation to Israel about a year ago for studying various agricultural techniques. He is currently residing at Rehovot city in the central district of Israel.
Sharing his experiences with Deccan Chronicle, Dr. Manjunath shared information that neither his residence nor his institute have been hit by rockets, though 3-4 of them fell in the neighbourhood.
He said the barrage of attacks started in the morning at 6:30 a.m. and went on till 9:30 a.m. Thereafter, the Israeli army declared war and started counterattacking from 9:30 a.m. Then everything stopped. Israel is calm now. Though Israeli army operations are continuing in Gaza.
“We are very safe. Every building has its own bomb shelter. In emergency situations, we remain there,” Dr. Manujanth informed this correspondent.
