Constitutional Debate Forum Rajyanga Charcha Vedika Launched to Educate People
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Justice K. Manmadha Rao said that it was necessary to educate the public about the Constitution of India, subsequent amendments to it, other major laws and the important judgments of the courts. He officially launched the Rajyanga Charcha Vedika (Constitutional Debate Forum), founded by advocates and social activists including Nadimapalli Gurudatt, Meda Srinivas, Avadhanula Hari and Dr Seva Kumar in Guntur on Sunday. Justice Manmadha Rao delivered the keynote address and as a guest of honour for the event, Dr. A. Rajendra Prasad, professor of eminence at D.S. National Law University also participated.
Justice Manmadha Rao observed that the Rajyanga Charcha Vedika would provide a platform to create awareness among all the people on the Constitution and its legal aspects for the large benefit of the society.
Justice Manmadha Rao further observed that before coming to the courts, the people should have some legal knowledge. He said that though the courts were there to protect the rights of the citizens, they could not do it on their own and the aggrieved people should approach in a proper manner for justice. He also suggested the people be aware of their constitutional and legal rights. He also suggested the public effectively exercise their right to vote and participate in the election process.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad said that there were different rights like general rights, constitutional rights, legal rights and others. He hoped that this forum would discuss all aspects of the constitution and its impact on the society. He said that the people should be law-abiding citizens as well as vigilant and for that this kind of forum would help.
