Video: 63-year-old woman dies after being hit by speeding car in Ahemdabad

Ahmedabad: A 63-year-old woman died after she and her granddaughter were hit by a speeding car while they were crossing the road in Ahemdabad, Gujarat, on Saturday.

According to a report in NDTV, the woman, identified as Jaineth Thomas, was declared dead in a hospital while her granddaughter sustained multiple fractures. Police are on the lookout for the vehicle’s driver who sped away after hitting the two women.

CCTV footage of the accident shows a red car speeding away after hitting Thomas and her granddaughter. One of them, apparently the granddaughter gets up and slowly walks to her grandmother who was not moving.

The video further shows passers-by stopping to assist the victims.

Thomas, a resident of Mumbai, was in Ahmedabad to visit her daughter. She had gone to a mall with her granddaughter on the day of the accident.
