M K Alagiri thanks Narendra Modi for visiting his parents
Madurai: In what can be construed as a bid to stage a political comeback, former DMK Union minister M. K. Alagiri wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanking him for visiting his parents in Chennai. Alagiri was expelled from the party on March 2014, and has been politically inactive since them. On Tuesday, he lauded the PM stating, “I would like to deeply appreciate your vision and commitment for taking the country to new heights.” In his letter, he regretted that he could not personally receive the PM when he called on Karunanidhi and his wife Dayalau Ammal at their residence in Gopalapuram on Monday and wrote,” I am really overwhelmed by your concern and care for them. I was unaware about your visit, I could not personally receive you there in Chennai.”
Though the letter was not explicit on Alagiri’s political plan, it has gained significance as the copy was released to the media immediately. He also thanked Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan for the PM’s visit. Earlier, on the eve of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Alagiri welcomed the prospects of Modi become Prime Minister and called him a good administrator.
