Private buses get going in Guntur city flag

Minister N. Anand Babu on Friday flagged off new private city buses in Guntur city.

VIJAYAWADA: Minister N. Anand Babu on Friday flagged off new private city buses in Guntur city.

He said that the old and outdated buses were creating problems for the passengers and also damaging the environment. “This was why the government has decided to allow operators to introduce new buses. Private operators will have to obviously follow traffic norms and ensure there is no inconvenience to the public on city roads while operating the buses,” the minister said.

He drove a new bus with district collector K. Sasidhar and others as passengers.

Mr Sasidhar said that the private operators have come forward to replace old buses with new buses to provide better services to commuters.

He directed the operators to follow time schedule and traffic rules and to inform the public the timings through digital display boards. Deputy transport commissioner G.C. Rajaratnam and other officials were present.
