Boost for Mysuru, six more flights to other cities

It has very good passenger load and every day, more than 65 seats are occupied in the flight, according to Mysuru airport sources.

Mysuru: The Union Ministry for Civil Aviation has approved six flights to connect Mysuru airport to five more prominent cities of the country, under the Udaan phase 3 regional connectivity scheme, according to Mysuru Kodagu MP Mr Pratap Simha.

In a press note, Mr Pratap Simha revealed that the Aviation ministry has approved two flights to Hyderabad, one each to Bengaluru, Kochi, Belagavi and Goa.

Currently, a 72 seater flight of a private airlines from Chennai airport lands at Mysuru airport at 7.25pm and departs at 7.55 to Chennai and Hyderabad.

It has very good passenger load and every day, more than 65 seats are occupied in the flight, according to Mysuru airport sources.

Stake holders from tourism and industries have said that expansion of air connectivity from Mysuru will boost tourism, and also attract good investment to the heritage city.

Also Mr Simha revealed that the railway ministry has approved the extension of the Chennai-Bengaluru Express to Mysuru.

The train will stop at Kengeri, Ramanagar, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya and Pandavapura on the extended portion. The train which will depart from Chennai at 1.35pm will reach Bengaluru at 8.10pm and Mysuru at 11pm. The train which departs from Mysuru at 4.45am will reach Bengaluru by 8.02 am and Chennai by 2.30pm.
