Calicut University may act on teachers, principals
KOZHIKODE: Calicut University may act tough against the teachers who missed valuation camps and principals who ignored the direction from varsity to relieve teachers for the camp. The examination standing committee of the Syndicate submitted recommendations in this regard. The sub-committee also recommended the varsity to direct the Collegiate Education Dir-ectorate to initiate action against teachers.
Many self-financing colleges are not sending teachers for valuation camps leading to delay in publication of results. Calicut University has achieved remarkable progress in publishing results on time in the last two years. “Many colleges did not bother to reply to the varsity whereas some replied arrogantly citing petty issues for not relieving teachers,” said committee member Dr P. Sivadasan. One prominent college replied without the principal’s sign.
The university decided to convene a meeting of sub-committee formed to study issues related to teachers’ allowances for valuation on Thursday. Speaking to this newspaper, Calicut University vice-chancellor Dr K. Mohammed Basheer said self-financing colleges are part of varsity and they are bound to help it publisg results quickly. “Teaching is not the only duty of SF colleges. When they ignore the process, will face music,” he said. The VC added that everyone including the self financing college should together work for the progress of university by co-operating in such things.
