TRS MPs' boycott of Parliament session continues

TRS MPs continued their boycott of Parliament for the third straight day on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: TRS MPs continued their boycott of Parliament for the third straight day on Wednesday. Except for A.P. Jitender Reddy, who attended the Lok Sabha to register the party’s protest with the NDA government for ignoring the needs and demands of the newly-formed Telangana state despite the party supporting the Central government on all the key issues, all the other MPs kept away from Parliament.

Mr Jitender Reddy, referring to the NDA government’s slogan of ‘Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikas’, asked why the Central government was not taking along states like Telangana on the path of development, and denying all schemes and projects it proposed. He also warned the Central government that if there was no shift in its attitude towards TS, TRS as a party knew what it has to do from the next phase of the Budget Session in March-April.

Earlier, TRS MPs along with state ministers met Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley and registered their protest against Centre’s “apathy” towards TS and its demands. ‘If there is no announcement on AIIMS to TS as promised earlier, we will have to take a stand on whether to support the NDA,” Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar told the ministers.

Mr Jaitley reacted by promising them that he would make a statement on establishing AIIMS in TS. He insisted that the Centre was not discriminating against TS. “TRS is known for agitations. Through agitation only we succeeded in getting TS. We may resort to an agitation again for achieving all our demands,” Mr Vinod Kumar told the ministers.
