Poll candidates worried more about heat wave in Visakhapatnam
VISAKHAPATNAM: Sun has turned in as the toughest opponent for candidates contesting in general elections in Visakhapatnam district.
The leaders are more worried about the heat than their political rivals. With the heat wave on the rise, the leaders have opted to campaign for a limited time in the morning and in the evening.
Many leaders are holding indoor meetings du-ring the day. Candidates, including minister Ganta Srinivas Rao and some others, are beginning their campaigning from 5 pm. Some others do election campaigning from 6 am to 10 am and continue in the evening. Time is not being wasted as people are met in various meetings that are being arranged indoors.
Leaders are saying th-at they are more worri-ed about their followers. Some of the leaders noticed that their followers were falling sick due to the heat wave and dec-ided not to do outdoor campaigning, under the hot Sun.
Speaking to this newspaper, Telugu Desam MLA and Visakhapatnam West Assembly constituency candidate P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu) said: “We are going to the villages during mornings and evenings. People are not seen outside. So, we have decided not to disturb the people during other timings and we are giving importance to the meetings in community halls.”
The YSRC leaders are also facing the same issue and they are also using the same formula. But, all the leaders are planning to campaign hard on Tuesday, as the final campaigning closes by 5 pm. Some of the leaders have decided to fight the Sun on the one last day before the elections. However, the followers will also be facing a tough time if the leaders step out of the house under the hot Sun.
