People in black denied entry to PM's rally

Even black shawls worn by women cadres were banned at the meeting venue.

Kanyakumari: Party cadres and people in black attire or wearing black shirts were not allowed inside the meeting venue of Prime minister Narendra Modi at Kanyakumari on Sunday.

Even black shawls worn by women cadres were banned at the meeting venue. A lady scribe from Kerala was forced to change her black shawl by the security personnel, who however apologised to the reporter explaining to her that they have been strictly advised not to allow people with black dress inside the election campaign meeting venue of Modi.

The instructions, according to a security officer, were aimed at preventing any one waiving any black cloth against the Prime Minister that might create unnecessary flutter at the meeting.

Elaborate security arrangement was done for the Prime Minister's visit. Around 3,500 policemen under the direct supervision of four IGs, five DIGs and 12 SPs were deployed in and around the meeting venue. The ADGP Mr. Tripathy too was present at the venue to oversee the security arrangements.
