Tourism projects in AP to be speeded up: Bhuma Akhila Priya
Visakhapatnam: Tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya said that AP government has decided to speed up the proposed tourism projects to tap the tourism potential. Admitting that many tourism projects in the state are yet to kick-start, Ms Akhila Priya said that a total of 28 MoUs were signed for various tourism projects in AP, but so far not a single MoU was taken up and around eight MoUs are likely to be taken up in the coming days, she added. In her maiden visit to Vizag after assuming charge as minister, Ms Akhila Priya held a review meeting with officials of the tourism department and expressed displeasure over the prog-ress of the department.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Ms Akhila Priya said that the air connectivity between Vizag and Colombo will increase the medical and Buddhist tourism in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking on the much-hyped tourism projects such as converting India’s oldest warhorse Viraat into a major tourist attraction in Vizag coast and a few others, the minister said that Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Viraat project will be completed soon. “We have identified a total of 14 beaches in the state for development and sent the DPR to Union tourism ministry and waiting for approval and sanction of funds to take up the works,” she added.
With the politics in Andhra Pradesh heating up over the upcoming Nandyal bypolls, Ms Akhila Priya once again asserted that the Telugu Desam (TD) will win in the Nandyal bypolls with a majority of over 30,000. Dismissing the claims ofthe YSRC that the TD will lose in Nandyal be-election, Ms Akhila Priya said that people have lot of faith on the TD for its development works in Nandyal constituency as TD government has spent over '12 crore for various development works in the constituency.
TD candidate for the Nandyal bypolls is Bhuma Nagi Reddy brother’s son Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy while Silpa Mohan Reddy is YSRC candidate. Expressing confidence on voters electing the TD, Ms Akhila Priya said that based on the sympathy on her parents and YSRC is banking on anti-incumbency factor, voters are sure to cast vote to the TD.
