Palsikar water inundates Bhainsa area

The collector instructed officials to take relief measures for the people.

ADILABAD: Water was released downstream from the Kadam project by lifting two gates on Sunday. The project received heavy inflows due to the rainfall upstream of the Boath Assembly constituency in bordering Maharashtra on Sunday.

Water from the Palsikar Ranga Rao project entered houses and inundated agriculture lands near Bhainsa in Nirmal district. Local MLA Vittal Reddy and collector Prashanti of Nirmal visited the project and inquired about the flood situation. The collector instructed officials to take relief measures for the people.

The river Penganga is also swollen with flood waters due to the rain in Maharashtra. District officials asked the people living in the villages along the river to be alert and move to safer places if the need arises.

Many streams and rivulets are overflowing with flood waters. Roads have breached and traffic has come to a halt at many places in the old Adilabad district.

The IMD has forecast more rain for the Maharashtra border areas later this week and officials have been put on the alert.
