Brain dead youth gives life to 5 in Guntur
AMARAVATI: Parents of a brain dead youth donated his organs through the Jeevan Daan scheme in Guntur on Monday, thus giving a fresh lease of life five persons. Sk. Kalesha Vali, 19, an engineering first year student, met with an accident on August 6 and doctors declared him brain dead. Sk. Hussain, Vali’s father, said that accepted requests by the doctors treating his brain dead son to donate his vital organs including heart, kidneys and eyes through Jeevan Daan.
Mr Hussain said that the five organs will be transplanted to patients in various hospitals in Guntur. “I am proud and happy that my son was able to give a fresh lease of life to five others,” Mr Hussain said. YSR Congress leader L. Appireddy, who visited the deceased students’ house on Monday, said that the government should create awareness among the public about organ donation and its importance. He said that if the YSRC was in power, it would have included organ donation awareness in the school syllabus.
