Kodagu: 25 places flooded, 993 people housed in 21 relief centres

As many as 105 villages in Uttara Kannada have been flooded sending 9,815 people to 84 temporary rehabilitation centers.

Mysuru: The heavy rain in Kodagu continued unabated for the fourth day on Thursday, creating havoc with as many as 25 places flooded and landslides too happening at a few places.

As many as 18 more relief centres have been set up where 927 more people were shifted. Apart from the fire and emergency services and an NDRF team, a column of the army led by Lt Col Arun Rakesh from the Defence Security Corps Centre, Kannur arrived at Kodagu and joined the rescue and relief operations.

Vehicular movement on 13 roads in Kodagu has been disrupted due to landslides, floods, tree fall, including Koyanaadu-Jodupaala road, Moornaadu-Virajpet road, Gonikoppa-Paalibetta road, Gonikoppa-Ponnampet road, Napoklu-Paaraane road, Siddapura-Karadigodu ro ad,Moornaadu-Naapoklu road, Nittooru-Baalele road, Bagamandala-Madi keri road, Bagamandala-Napoklu road, Bagamandala-Talacauvery road and Bagamandala- Ayyangeri road. Also vehicular movement on SH 91 connecting Kerala remains banned to ensure the safety of travellers.
