Naidu Demands CBI Probe into Attack on Him
Visakhapatnam: Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) hold a thorough investigation into the Angallu incident.
Addressing a press conference in Vizianagaram, he maintained that the attack on him was a premeditated conspiracy. “How dare the state government file a case against me? Who is the victim in the incident? I was attacked by goons and a case has been filed against me,” he thundered.
Naidu accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of filing false cases against him in an attempt to win the forthcoming elections.
He said: "I have been travelling across the state as part of the Yudha Bheri programme, informing people about corruption, injustice, destruction and devastation caused by irrigation projects. As part of the scheduled programme, I was in Angallu village, where I was attacked. And the state government has registered an attempt to murder case against me.”
The former chief minister charged that the local minister and his brother had hatched a conspiracy and filed a case against him. He also narrated in detail how the incident unfolded.
He recalled that contract works for a parallel canal to Handri-Neeva has been awarded to PLR Company, which belongs to minister Ramachandra Reddy. “When I went to oversee the ongoing works, local farmers complained to me that their lands are being taken away from them with the help of officials and police. While I was returning, YSRC goons created obstructions and made an attempt to kill me,” he stated.
The TD chief opined that it has become a habit for YSRC to kill someone and file cases against the victims. “These facts will come to light only following a CBI inquiry, which should probe the entire incidents that have taken place in various parts of the state,” he remarked.
Naidu played at the media conference a video of how the Angallu incidents unfolded.
